Who says you can't go home?

First of all, blogger has been a big jerk the last couple days and won't let me resize my pictures. They will not be overwhelmingly large today, I am so sorry.

Anyway, Happy February!

It is going to be a month of big changes for us.

We got our walking papers (I know that  phrase means you got fired, which neither of us did, but the only other thing I could think to type is "we got our next assignment" but that sounds like the military, CIA, or maybe a missionary. Of those things, fired is probably the most likely for us).

Really, we just found out Frank got a job that he very much wanted.

Annnddd, we are moving back to Michigan! Some of us sooner than others--Frank leaves in 2 weeks. I'm in school until May. It's ok, we're pretty good at long-distance. We are going to mail Lucy back and forth :)

We will miss Minnesota a lot. We would have loved to get back to Oregon. And we're definitely mourning the loss of going somewhere brand new (I'm talking to you Colorado, Maine, California and Alaska). But there's plenty of time for all that after we do Michigan again. :)

It feels like good timing to go "home" again.

I have been thinking about my parents a lot. If I'm not getting any younger, they probably aren't either? 4 hours away from them (and Frank's family including his 1 year old niece!) is better than 11 hours. Do I look like my momma?

Our own baby hasn't lived in her home state since she was 6 weeks old and she needs to get to know her roots! I'm not going to lie, I don't know which pup is Lucy.

We will still be living by our beautiful Lake Superior! She is very difficult to part with (the ocean was a good substitute).

We are also moving back to friends, a long skiing season, trees, and a low cost of living. However, I would be lying if I didn't mention that going back to my favorite hair stylist is at the top of my 'happy to be moving back' list. Why can't anyone else do this very simple bob?

This happened much sooner than we expected, but we just couldn't turn down this job opportunity for Frank. And I'm going to be so busy with school the next 13 weeks that I won't even notice he is gone (ok, I am just saying that to make myself feel better, I will miss him terribly).

Anyone else live in/near Michigan? Have you seen the Pure Michigan commercials??

How many different jobs have you had (being a mom definitely counts as a job)? This will be Frank's 7th job in his field (they are usually for the summer season, but this one is a full year...yay, movin on up). I have had 4 different jobs and I am definitely ready to settle in and stick around at my next one!

Any blogger users know what I'm talking about with the picture resize thing??

  6. I can relate a bit. Right now going back home seems like such a good move for me and I think after I figure it out exactly, I might try and make that change. I know you and Rachel love your ski season so what better way to celebrate then a longer one LOL.

    1. 5 years is a long time to be away from family! I think my mom would have a nervous breakdown if I were overseas for that long!

  9. I love your optimism on moving back!! I also love that you are going to be close to family again, those days are necessary as everyone gets older! I have most definitely seen the Michigan commercials and they make me want to visit! Only three jobs for me right now. Four if you count getting paid to take care of my sister!! I get paid by the state to be a caregiver, so I guess that counts!

  13. Just catching up on the big news. Congrats! Our close friends did the same thing because of school/work shortly after they were married, and they pulled it off like champs.

My husband's parents live four hours away, and we average visiting them about once a month. It's so much easier than when we lived in Florida!
