Anyway, Happy February!
It is going to be a month of big changes for us.
We got our walking papers (I know that phrase means you got fired, which neither of us did, but the only other thing I could think to type is "we got our next assignment" but that sounds like the military, CIA, or maybe a missionary. Of those things, fired is probably the most likely for us).
Really, we just found out Frank got a job that he very much wanted.
Annnddd, we are moving back to Michigan! Some of us sooner than others--Frank leaves in 2 weeks. I'm in school until May. It's ok, we're pretty good at long-distance. We are going to mail Lucy back and forth :)
We will miss Minnesota a lot. We would have loved to get back to Oregon. And we're definitely mourning the loss of going somewhere brand new (I'm talking to you Colorado, Maine, California and Alaska). But there's plenty of time for all that after we do Michigan again. :)
It feels like good timing to go "home" again.
I have been thinking about my parents a lot. If I'm not getting any younger, they probably aren't either? 4 hours away from them (and Frank's family including his 1 year old niece!) is better than 11 hours. Do I look like my momma?
Our own baby hasn't lived in her home state since she was 6 weeks old and she needs to get to know her roots! I'm not going to lie, I don't know which pup is Lucy.

We will still be living by our beautiful Lake Superior! She is very difficult to part with (the ocean was a good substitute).
We are also moving back to friends, a long skiing season, trees, and a low cost of living. However, I would be lying if I didn't mention that going back to my favorite hair stylist is at the top of my 'happy to be moving back' list. Why can't anyone else do this very simple bob?
This happened much sooner than we expected, but we just couldn't turn down this job opportunity for Frank. And I'm going to be so busy with school the next 13 weeks that I won't even notice he is gone (ok, I am just saying that to make myself feel better, I will miss him terribly).
Anyone else live in/near Michigan? Have you seen the Pure Michigan commercials??
How many different jobs have you had (being a mom definitely counts as a job)? This will be Frank's 7th job in his field (they are usually for the summer season, but this one is a full year...yay, movin on up). I have had 4 different jobs and I am definitely ready to settle in and stick around at my next one!
Any blogger users know what I'm talking about with the picture resize thing??

Congratulations! I'm sure going back home will be a great feeling! And I'm sure the 13 weeks really will fly by.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures seem to be resized on my computer!
Thanks! I am glad the picture size seems normal too :)
DeleteI'm glad that you are excited about Michigan. I also know what you mean by trying new places(Being stuck in one city for life, I dream big...from India to Sfo lol )
ReplyDeleteI loveeee the pups!
I think you resemble your mom quite a bit,:)
I love SFO too! Of course I have never been to India so I can't comment on that :)
DeleteCongrats to Frank! So exciting. . . and the weeks will fly by and you'll be back in MI before you know it too. :) I can't shred any light on blogger - I use Wordpress. . sorry!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking a wordpress change might be in the future??
Deletehow exciting! hope the next 13 weeks go by fast!! sounds like you have alot of great things waiting for you in michigan!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteLOVE Michigan, lived in Novi, worked in Ann Arbor, have family all over.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite hair stylist is also there in Ann Arbor, I swear I need that man back in my life.
VERY exciting stuff - congrats. It will fly by I'm sure.
Ann Arbor is great! We will be up north.
DeleteI can relate a bit. Right now going back home seems like such a good move for me and I think after I figure it out exactly, I might try and make that change. I know you and Rachel love your ski season so what better way to celebrate then a longer one LOL.
ReplyDeleteLOL yes definitely, I might just go roll around in the snow with my skis on!
Deleteoh lots of stuff happening for you! I'm glad you'll be closer to your parents!!(you totally look like your mom) When i was overseas for 5 years, after i came home, all I wanted to do was spend time with them everyday!
ReplyDeleteThat bob is sooo nice!
5 years is a long time to be away from family! I think my mom would have a nervous breakdown if I were overseas for that long!
DeleteCongrats on the move - so cool.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteCongrats!!! I was so glad when I got to move closer to my parents, too. Hope the weeks pass quickly for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteI love your optimism on moving back!! I also love that you are going to be close to family again, those days are necessary as everyone gets older! I have most definitely seen the Michigan commercials and they make me want to visit! Only three jobs for me right now. Four if you count getting paid to take care of my sister!! I get paid by the state to be a caregiver, so I guess that counts!
ReplyDeleteYay for seeing the Michigan commercials! I didn't know they showed them all the way out there.
DeleteOMG those puppies are too cute! I would love to be closer to my parents...or live in Colorado. But congrats on not getting fired lol :)
ReplyDeleteI just wish i knew which puppy was mine?
DeleteAwesome! Congrats! I have seen the Pure Michigan commercials and I think of you every time. They are great commercials! (That sounds like kind of an oxymoron, but it's true.) I want to come visit!
ReplyDeleteI know, our Minnesota visiting via your family vacations isn't going to work now!
DeleteCongratulations on the move! I'm sure it will be great for yall!
ReplyDeleteThanks Missy, I think so too!
DeleteJust catching up on the big news. Congrats! Our close friends did the same thing because of school/work shortly after they were married, and they pulled it off like champs.
ReplyDeleteMy husband's parents live four hours away, and we average visiting them about once a month. It's so much easier than when we lived in Florida!
Yeah!!!! I'm excited!! Of course you know I live in Michigan!! I wonder if there is a blog Michigan meet up!! I want to meet more bloggers from Michigan!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new job for Frank! And good luck with the long distance!! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting to go home again! What a great opportunity for you both. Enjoy!
