I thought I would be smart yesterday and wait til it started snowing to get out for a run (not sure why that sounded fun?). I must have missed the weather reports about it being a storm with gusts of icy snow vs. light, fluffy, pretty snowflakes. Do you know how far you can run with your eyes closed? 3.7 miles for me. Icy snow pelting your face feels pretty much like you would expect it to. I kind of enjoyed it in a weird way.
Frank got home from work early last night and we were in the midst of sorting through our stash of newspapers from 2006 and assorted phone/camera/ipod chargers for long-gone devices when we saw a guy skiing by our window. Whaaaat? Why were we not already doing that? Because one of us is moving in 5 days and we have a giant ball of cables and cords and 7 years worth of articles about Detroit sports teams from Frank's grandma? No. Because we didn't think of it!
It was a much better way to spend the evening. Turned out to be a true wilderness experience with a loop past the 24-hour Walgreens. ;)
And going off the trail at the park.
I wanted to take Lucy along for the fun, but she said she got enough snow packed in her fur on Saturday walking with her friend Porter.
She really made a big deal out of being tired after that.
Little did I know, she was just saving her energy for barking/disturbing the neighbors while we were gone that night.
Does anyone know how to stop a dog from barking when they're home alone?
Do you hoard weird things like electrical cords and newspapers in boxes in your back room too? There has to be something strange that you collect that you can tell me about...
How was your weekend? Hope everyone stayed safe and warm!

I always feel kind of badass when I run in horrid conditions, so I think I would've enjoyed that run, too! Your pup looks so cute lounging on the couch!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I like about running in those conditions too ;)
DeleteDang that just looks intense. I was running outdoors yesterday and saw someone skiing. I can't even imagine. (I always say that but it's def true). Anyways-I wish our Walgreens were open 24 hours...it's something I always took for granted down south but up here in my little town...they aren't.
ReplyDeleteWhere we are moving to does not have 24 stores either...it is going to be quite shocking I think.
DeleteI just had a typical boring weekend: Chinese Food, cleaning, laundry and grocery shopping :-)
ReplyDeleteChinese food is one of my faves!
DeleteWoah, I've never seen anyone skiing in town. That's amazing!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! What a great idea:) My husband likes to hoard cords because he says you never know when you night need one:)
ReplyDeleteI am yet to need one of the ones that we have, but I'm still waiting for the opportunity to pop up...
DeleteYou're a brave woman running in the elements! Skiing looked much more fun than packing:-)
ReplyDeleteI've really thought about wearing goggles during runs like that! Skiing looks fun!
ReplyDeletegoggles--yes! Such a good idea, why didn't I think of that?
DeleteWhat a cute photo up top. You are one of the few women who actually looks adorable with a winter cap on. My teen daughter is also super in hats.
ReplyDeleteAnd the dogs...words cannot describe my appreciation of dog photos. :D
:-) Marion
Thanks Marion!
Deletehahah I saw the same thing at my parent's place - people just randomly skiing around - I love it!
ReplyDeleteSo fun!
DeleteI think I am too far south for this kind of random skiing! I know my dad used to do it all the time growing up in Cleveland and attending school in Michigan. That looks like a ton of fun though!
ReplyDeleteI have seen a few bloggers just go ski in random areas, what a blast! I don't think I get enough snow in my area! What a blast though.
ReplyDeletewow, that looks so cool. My son says he wants to try this LOL:)
ReplyDeleteSend him over, we will teach him :)
Deletesure--I will tag along as well. In fact my husband wants to learn this 'some'day
DeleteI have no idea how to control my dogs even when I am home. Haha. Boyd barks a lot when we're not home, but Pippa (I think) is pretty chill as long as she's in her crate. The sidewalk skiing looks fun!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics - way to really get out and make the most of it:)
ReplyDeleteOur pup barks while we are away as well. AWFUL. It's not for long periods. If it's that bad, you might have to look into a collar. I couldn't do it, I told our neighbor to deal.
Looks like a blast. I haven't gone skiing in a could years. Cross-country is so much fun!
ReplyDeleteOur back room is FULL of all kinds of crap. I dream of cleaning out a ton of it... one day ;)
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine skiing through town, that's so fun!
I miss your posts and I hope you're doing well! That is all. :)
ReplyDeleteI save report cards like they are original copies of the constitution. You'd think I could stick to just one per year, but no. I have to have every one that the kids have ever brought home. And owner's manuals. We have a million for things we no longer own. Frown.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely made the right move to stop worrying about the wires and get out the skis. Pronto.
