Frank left yesterday morning and arrived safely in Michigan. Wish him luck for his first day of work tomorrow!
I am now 100% responsible for tiring Lucy out before her 9 pm energy spike. Usually that's when Frank jumps in and plays some wrestling-and-growling game that I am just not that into. I spent about 4 hours thinking about taking her on my run today before actually doing it.
Last time we went running together, we were in Deer Lodge, Montana road-tripping our way out to Oregon. I remember it because that's the last time that we almost died together. Lucy has a hard time not chasing birds, car, leaves, snowflakes, squirrels, bicyclists, other runners, and probably lots more things we just haven't encountered yet. And have you noticed that cars will swerve TOWARD humans to avoid hitting dogs? That's how we almost died together. Also because I was trying to take pictures. In my defense, the sky was amazing and Minnesotans gets excited about mountains in the distance!
But back to yesterday, things were much improved. The dog did not miss a beat. She was trotting along at a walk while I did what I thought was running behind her. Seriously, little dogs can run (walk fast?).
That + a lot of homework and laundry is how I spent my first day without Frank. Only 28 more days to fill until our first visit to Michigan!
Anyone else run with their pup?
What's been keeping you busy this weekend?

Jackson LOVES to run with us. All we have to do is say the word "run" and he goes nuts. But yes it feels like he is walking next to me while I am running full force!
ReplyDeleteJack is so big though, try having your booty handed to you by a 14 pounder! She didn't lose her fitness from hiking I guess!
DeleteGOOD luck to Frank!! Good luck, good luck!
ReplyDeleteIf I had a little dog, I think it'd be theeee best time to go running together!
It's a long weekend up here for us, catching up on sleep today!!
Family day, right? That's much nicer than president's day, but I will take what I can get!
DeleteI plan on taking my dogs for walks when it warms up because they are straight up lazy right now. My jack russell loves to run though, so she will be ready to go. It is amazing how fast those little dogs can go.
ReplyDeleteJack Russells have boundless energy in my experience!
DeleteI run around the block (1 time) with Keebler on most nice days in the warmer months. We also take long walks in our neighborhood. I love your dog posts. :D
ReplyDelete:-) Marion
I should start getting out with Lucy for a little bit everyday, that's a good idea...sometimes taking her on longer runs just seems like it is going to be too hard.
DeleteWhat kind of dog is Lucy? She sounds like she has a very similar personality to our schnauzer we used to have.
ReplyDeleteShe is a Maltese Shis Tzu :)
DeleteShih tzu
DeleteI run with Pippa almost every day. I love it. Unless we see a lot of squirrels.
ReplyDeleteI know you do, I am jealous of that!
DeleteI wish I had a dog to take running. I have found they make great accountability partners.
ReplyDeleteThey do have a way of barking at you til you get out the door!
DeleteI run w/ my little whippet quite often. She pulls the first mile and then relaxes somewhere between 1-2 miles. I think 9 or 10 miles is the farthest we've been, but she wasn't even tired after that. I do leave her home if it's hot though.
ReplyDeleteI run with my husky mix Jack a lot. He's okay to run with, but it's stop-and-go: sniff sniff pee sniff pee sniff sniff sniff.... we both prefer trail running so he can be off leash!
ReplyDeleteGOOD LUCK!!
ReplyDeleteHow cute is Lucy?? I have a Jack Russell and holy crap do we have to run him all over the place:)
