If I ever say I want to get a PhD, please tell me no.

I am counting on you all to not allow me to further my education. Why? Because when I asked Frank this one small favor, he said "why? Then people will call you doctor."

I guess that would be cool, but this semester is kicking my booty with homework and general busyness. However, I will have a master's degree in 12 weeks. I can do that.

I got in 4 days of lake-gazing running this week in the slush and snow and my hip held up like champ. It was low mileage, nothing more than 4.5 miles at a time. Still, an improvement.

It has decided to turn into the best winter in a few years in Minnesota. We've been skiing and getting out in the snow as much as possible. Side note: you cannot look at the camera for a picture if you are wearing a headlamp and the photographer is also wearing a headlamp. I think that's where the term "double-blind" comes from?

Other recent activities: making Lucy pose for artsy-shadow-snow pictures.

Super bowl eating watching (I know I'm late to the party on the "look at what I ate during the super bowl" report).

And using my tiny dog to scare big dogs under tables.

Hope all my northeastern friends are hunkered down to weather the storm.

See you next time I come up for a breath of non-school air!

What are your weekend plans??

  1. I want a PhD for the soul-purpose of having an Indiana Jones moment with my dad - "Dr. Jones?" And they both turn around and say, "yes."

  4. If I was to go into the PhD program - it would be back in the field of geography, not education. After my M.Ed. is finished I never want to see edu grad school again. But perhaps that it is just the university I am in...ahh

  9. Still laughing about the double blind study you guys did. So happy your hip is hanging in there. Is that a real picture at the top or just something you posted to make everyone on the planet jealous? So gorgeous that it looks fake.

  10. I am working on my PhD, and although I'm sure it will be rewarding in the end, I have learned it truely isn't for everyone. You have to want it!

Good luck with the rest of your masters degree -- you are so close!
