Monday's workout:
The Lucy girl and I went for the coldest, most slippery walk imaginable.
I suppose to say coldest and most slippery is a little overstated. Especially because even we have been on colder/more slippery walks. Anyway, it works out well to have Lucy walk in front of me because if she slips then I just don't walk where she walked. It's not as mean as it sounds, she has 4 legs that she can catch herself on and I have the equivalent of 1.5 stable legs. This experience confirmed that I will not be running outside today unless everyone has magically taken care of their sidewalks (and we did not, so there you go).
Yes, my favorite color is blue. Do you ever look at a picture of yourself and you're pretty sure that's not what you look like?
I am going to start doing a little something to make my quads/glutes/hamstrings/hips stronger, but I don't think I'm rehabbed enough for actual weight lifting. I have been doing a little routine for hip strengthening everyday and today I added some (weight free) squats, a couple lunges, and some reverse lunge-twist thingies to the mix. Happy to report that I am not sore today.
This is my last week of winter break. I know you must all feel so sorry for me that I only have 1 out of my 6 weeks left (kidding, I know that most normal people only get 1 week off total and I am sure this will catch up to me soon). I decided to celebrate mostly with (you will never guess this one) food. I guess my idea of a celebration is currently steamed vegetables with mustard + a yogurt bowl + stupid collages. Is that weird?
You should probably bake them. We did, but sometimes it's very difficult to photograph food once it's cooked because it's being eaten and all. ;)
I'm planning to hit the gym today for treadmill variety. I never thought I would be a treadmill user just because of a little cold and ice but now I can't remember what I did without one.
What's your favorite color?
What is your favorite condiment? It used to be ketchup but my love for mustard is growing. Frank dislikes ALL condiments.
What kind of leg strengthening exercises do you do?

Those rolls look amazing! And I hear you - running outside in the winter can be very dangerous - even walking sometimes can be!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for treadmills!
DeleteI never run in the ice and snow. For me, that would be a recipe for disaster:0 Favorite color is pink, sad to say I love mayo and I do squats mostly for my legs:)
ReplyDeleteBetter safe than sorry, recipe for disaster for me too!
DeleteUgh cold! I hate the cold and I live in Ottawa - ahhh
ReplyDeleteMy favorite condiment is MAYO! My favorite colour is green - I am wearing mostly green today :-)
Ottawa does sound cold!
DeleteHey! I nominated you for a Liebster Award! If you want to participate, check out my blog post here: http://highheeledrunner.com/2013/01/15/liebster-award/
ReplyDeleteThanks, girl :)
DeleteMy favorite color is blue.
ReplyDeleteI love so many condiments. I'm on of those people who can't eat anything plain. Ranch and honey mustard are my favorite, Famous Dave's sweet and zesty bbq sauce..
I like to mix ranch and salsa sometimes...and ranch and pizza sauce, maybe I should have said ranch is my favorite!
DeleteCute, cute, cute. Taking dogs out in the snow is the best, watching them play is hysterical.
ReplyDeleteYou look great!! Blue and green are my fave colors, although I wear a ton of black.
Gina's spinach lasagna rolls - wow, those look perfect!
I probably wear the most black too! Even yoga pants can be classy when they're black ;)
DeleteBlue, ketchup and nothing else (I'm on Frank's side with the condiments) and I do a variety. These days I'm doing a lot of random stuff with leg weights to work on my pesky piriformis. Seems to be working. I've been doing a lot of those exercises from the Runner's World January issue. The one on staying injury free. I like doing machines though. I get a bigger bang for my buck doing one leg machine than any number of squats/lunges.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to check that RW issue back out! I always forget about the old issue when the new issue comes :)
DeletePS those lasagna rolls look amazeballs. Definitely making those.
ReplyDeletewhoa those rolls look absolutely amazing :O!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your last week off..ooooooh enjoy it!
I love all things blue and green :D
Aww, thanks I will enjoy it!
DeleteWhat a brave little dog! Haha. That is such a good use for your canine!
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite color is red, and I bought red Brooks for that reason.
Red running shoes will be fast for sure :)
DeleteMy favorite color is lime green :) Those lasagna rolls look so tasty! I'm a big fan of cottage cheese - it has so much protein plus its so much lighter than other cheeses. I don't really like condiments except for spicy mustard - occasionally honey mustard.. I don't even like salad dressing actually!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds a lot like Frank...poor Jimmy, its hard to live with ;)
DeleteAWE that dog is braver then me LOL. It just looks cold in your photos...I'm shivering staring at the photos. My favorite color is schmellow yellow. I just like to add the schmellow for effects.
ReplyDeleteSchmellow yellow, lol I love that. I am all about effects.
DeleteYay for Lasagna Spinach rolls, they are so delicious!
