More skiing + dogtivities + weather talk = what you expected?

Friday workout: some core? Day off from running after 2 days on (total 4.5 miles, I know, hold the phone people :).

Saturday workout: Nordic skiing twice! I went out very early in the morning because 1. we got snow and 2. it was a toasty 20 degrees and supposed to get colder all day/week (currently -9). A solo ski was just what I needed.

Then Frank came home from work and got very jealous of my skiing and asked if I wanted to go again. Um, do I have a new headlamp to try out?? The answer to that would be yes.

I am now very tight in the hip flexors and a little sore, but it was well worth it. Skiing is my absolute favorite thing about living in Duluth. PS, If I didn't talk about the weather/snow/outdoor activities in every. single. post, I just wouldn't be a good Minnesotan/Michigander (I don't know why people from Michigan throw a "d" in there and want to be called something that ends in gander instead of the standard ian that other states do?).

Lucy had a little adventure at the park wherein she ran around in the new snow like this for a little while:

...then chased a guy on a bike (that ended much better than it could have and he said she was the cutest dog he had ever seen. This does not encourage me to obey leash policies). When it was time to walk home, she fell over and then decided to fake limp the rest of the way so everyone would look at me like the worst dog owner in the world.

Now I am mentally preparing for going back to school/interning this week. Mentally preparing = trying to figure out how I can skip February through April. I would be physically preparing, but our washer has decided to not work this week. Good thing we have febreeze.

What are people from your state/province/city/area called?

What is your favorite outdoor activity to do where you live?

  2. Besides running, horseback riding and moving cows. I am so in love with Lucy. I am a Montanan. Doesn't sound quite as cool as Michigander, but a good place to be from.

    1. Moving cows...was your family on that reality show series that took place in Montana about cows?? That would be way cool, I hope you have at least seen that show!

  3. I think Ontario people are called Ontarians?? For Ottawa people....not sure at all Ottawians? ;-)

Downhill skiing is my favorite - I love that I am close to 4 ski hills and only about 1.5 hrs away from Tremblant. When I was a kid in Toronto - the best ski hills were 2+ hrs away ;-(

  4. I think we are Michiganders lol, which I love being called. During the winter, I love snowboarding, skiing, and cross-country skiing. I really wish I could ice skate better, but its always fun to go Downtown Detroit to ice skate with friends.

  5. Nice active weekend! I'm super jealous you got out skiing twice- it looks awesome!
That is weird there's a D in Michigander!
We're called Albertans (hate the way we sound when we say it)!
In winter it's definitely cross-country skiing for me! I love to downhill ski, too, but we have to drive a bit to hit the mountains.

  6. Hiking and taking walks. Our neighborhood is so hilly that a walk is a pretty hard, sweat-inducing workout. I would love to be able to ski like that! It looks so gorgeous and peaceful. And you don't have to worry about poison ivy.

  10. Most people from my area are called hicks or white trash ;) that skiing sounds like a blast and a great way to spend time with your man. I guess there are advantages to actually having snow!

  11. I'm a Minnesotan, obviously!
Where I live there isn't much to do in the Winter.. no skiing, snowboarding, hills.. BUT I would love to snowshoe here. I think I will try and get on that. Thanks for making me think of it! :)

  12. Pretty sure everyone in my state could be called a red-neck, but I prefer to go by Kansan. :) I don't judge them and I hope they don't call me uppity.
