Workouts:
Tuesday--I pulled a classic Jade move and forgot my ID for the gym (and I even had a gym date with a friend, dang) so I didn't run. It might have been for the best because boy oh boy was I wrong when I said I wasn't sore from the minimal amount of non-weighted lower body strength training I did on Monday! Turns out I was very sore Tuesday and even a little sore yesterday. Normally I'm not afraid to run on sore muscles but I keep second guessing myself when I feel soreness in my SI joint area because I don't want to go down the injury road again before I'm even running again. Better safe than sorry at this juncture, I have plenty of time before I need to start training more seriously.
Wednesday--I kept my run to 2.5 miles because of the soreness and icy sidewalks/paths. I think that means I might make today a run day too...wahoo, two days in a row! I'm going to stick to the 'mill though...here's what I was dealing with yesterday. Do you see the dark patches? Those are the non-icy spots (I know it's winter and I live in Minnesota and I should really just accept that it's going to be icy and slippery but I prefer to complain about it daily).
I discovered my new favorite errand: getting oil changes. Why? Because I discovered a dealership that does oil changes for $16.95 and has free CARIBOU coffee, a cappuccino machine, and fountain pop! I am aware that I lead a sheltered life, but I was extremely impressed by this.
I sat in front of a fireplace, sipped my free coffee (not a good idea at 5 pm), and watched a TV far larger than my own. I left a suggestion in the comment box that they should have free chair massages too. Cross your fingers that they do before we put 2,000 more miles on the car. :)
I was so relaxed when I got home that I decided to be extra sweet and make Frank cookies for a "happy 1 week before our anniversary" present.
What is your favorite errand? Least favorite?
Anyone else have such an awesome oil change place??

haahhaha that sounds like the most chilled out errands ever!
ReplyDeleteI think washing clothes is up there on my worst.
Best..hmmm, that's a hard one. Is grocery shopping an errand?? I kinda like doing that - roaming up and down the aisles!
Grocery shopping is completely an errand, my fave too!
DeleteThose cookies look delicious!! My favorite errand would have to be grocery shopping.Worst is going to the post office in the Winter. It's so close to our house yet it's just not close enough to want to bundle the kids up in all their Winter gear. In the Summer it's a daily thing though because we pass it on ours walks.
ReplyDeleteMy husband changes our oil so I don't know about cool oil change places! I think I need to get to one though if they all look like that!
I bet errands get 50 times harder with kiddos, and in the winter everything takes longer!
DeleteWe totally got hit with that awful ice too. I don't dare go out and run on it either - I like my legs too much to break them, thank you very much! :) Treadmill for the win. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, I like my legs too much to break mine too!!
DeleteSeriously, where do you get your oil changed? LOL - that's brilliant.
ReplyDeleteGlad you listened to your body:)
I love running to our fresh market - which happens to have a great coffee shop w/ homemade goodies.
Now that sounds like another errand I would enjoy :)
DeleteI'm so impressed with how you've been approaching your come back- very smart and not easy to take a step back and think long-term!
ReplyDeleteThe oil change place sounds amazing! I dread taking mine in, but I don't think I would with those ammenities.
I love and hate grocery shopping. Hate how much time it takes but love getting food and looking at new products on the shelves.
You're right, grocery shopping does take a lot of time, I have to be in a certain mood but usually its my favorite too!
DeleteI get free coffee at my dealership, but I pay $40 for an oil change (yikes.) I like to think it's ok because they check all the bells and whistles on my car too. My favorite errand hands down would be grocery shopping. How cliche.
ReplyDeleteThat's hoe much I had been paying before I found this gem :) I think its most important to trust the people who work on your car, I'm sure your 40 bucks is worth it.
DeleteDo you have to use synthetic? Synthetic is usually more expensive.
DeleteMy oil change place has the chair massages, but that is a mixed bag. Went there once and this big lady passed out in one, and she snored the whole time! Yeah, not cool, but they do have free coffee (nothing fancy though). You win ;)
ReplyDeleteWait, you really have chair massages or are you telling stories??
DeleteI wish they had oil changes like that here! I always feel really accomplished after crossing that errand off my list, but it'd be a lot more fun with all that stuff.
